Climate protection and bioeconomy in the focus of the second BMEL dialogue event
The event series "Charter for Wood 2.0 in Dialogue" continued on 10 December 2019 in Berlin under the theme "Climate - Values - Change: How do we want to live in the future?". The Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture, Uwe Feiler, opened the event, which was held in cooperation with the German Council for Sustainable Development.
Against the background of urgent climate issues around 120 experts and stakeholders from the fields of sustainability, sustainable consumption, recycling management, product design, recycling, bioeconomy, education, digitization, innovation and the start-up scene discussed issues around sustainability, bioeconomy and green economy and the role that wood from sustainable forestry can play in this context.
Stimulating discussions on the various topics relating to innovative wood products, consumer knowledge and the expectations of the younger generation, as well as approaches on implementing sustainability - on the panel and in the plenary - have shown that the exchange between stakeholders from different levels of society is important and that the series "Charter for Wood 2.0 in Dialogue" is a valuable building block here. It also became clear that politics, business and consumers are equally responsible to implement sustainability and climate protection measures, and that innovative products made of wood from sustainable forestry can make an important contribution here.
